Webpage headers tool

Enter a URI for a webpage and we'll tell you what the headers for that page are. This is useful to check the status code for a webpage for SEO purposes.

What the status codes mean

200 OK

You found what you were looking for- everything's hunky-dory

301 Moved Permanently

This page is gone forever, but we know where it went to and you should use the new URI from now on.

302 Found

What you were looking for is somewhere else, but you should keep coming here to ask for it because it may move again in the near future.

304 Not Modified

What you asked for hasn't changed since the last time you asked, so just chill and read the copy we already gave you.

307 Temporary Redirect

Very similar to a 302.

400 Bad Request

Huh? Come again.

401 Unauthorized

What's the secret handshake and we'll let you in.

403 Forbidden

You're out of luck. You can't come in here, so don't even think about trying again.

404 Not Found

Can't find what you're looking for, and we have no idea where it is or if it'll be back.

410 Gone

What you were looking for is dead and gone and is not coming back ever again- sorry.

500 Internal Server Error

I'm sick. I can't help you right now.

If you don't like my irreverent definitions of the status codes or you want to look up one that's not here, try the RFC with the officially stoic HTTP 1.1 status code specifications.
